PROGHORN ANTELOPE (August-September) Bow, Rifle & Muzzleloader, Northeastern New Mexico
We have access to over 75,000 acres of land in northeastern New Mexico near the villages of Springer, Clayton and Logan in hunting units 55, 51 and 34. These private ranches have had little hunting pressure in the past and are surrounded by additional large tracts of private land making these areas very secluded and away from the hunting pressures of public hunters, providing great trophy buck opportunities with grasslands and creek bottoms prevalent in this excellent antelope country. In 2007 we experienced a 100% harvest rate on bucks over 14 inches, with two bucks taken that made the books.
Larger bucks were seen throughout our scouting and hunting expeditions. Hunting these prairie goats includes spot and stalk, use of ground blinds and entails some long range shooting. For archery hunters expect to sit in a ground blind over many watering holes on the ranches. We keep our clients lodged in local motels/hotels in near by towns and meals are served at local restaurants. You can expect some fast speed goat action with an excellent opportunity to harvest a 14"+ goat. Clients that are willing to pass on lesser game have a better than normal chance at harvesting larger trophies. There are limited hunts available and hunts book quickly. Because these hunts are conducted on private, trophy managed ranches, there is no need for the public draw. Licenses and tags are guaranteed by the landowner and UCO.
